The Dallas-Fort Worth area has an amazing amount of activities for children, but in August the high temperatures can make it hard to stay outside for any length of time unless you’re near water. As a long time realtor in DFW, I’ve found some great places to beat the heat with family and friends. Here are a few indoor and outdoor options to help you stay cool and give the kids and opportunity to run off some energy.
Parr Park Splash Pad
The splash pad at Parr Park in Grapevine, Texas is a fantastic place for children of all ages. It is open from 8am-8pm daily. There are plenty of trees for shade, and it’s adjacent to several playgrounds. The best part is the cost…FREE!
Address: 3100 Parr Lane
Altitude Trampoline Park
Altitude Trampoline Park is a great place to go on a hot Texas day. It’s huge so even when it’s busy it doesn’t feel overly crowded. Toddler time is from 10-1pm if you have little children, this is the best time to go. There are also designated times for teens, and adults can have a blast jumping with their children, or going on their own to enjoy fitness classes. One tip-it is very busy on the weekend with birthday parties.

SeaLife Aquarium/LegoLand Discover Center
The SeaLife Aquarium is located in Grapevine Mills Mall. It’s the perfect place to head for an outing with the kids of all ages. After enjoying the exhibits there is a play center at the end for younger children to enjoy. They will also get the opportunity to hold a few small sea creatures.
LegoLand is great for older children. They will stay busy for hours and use their imagination. There are 15 different attractions, and parents will enjoy playing as well.
Pro tip: Purchase tickets for SeaLife Aquarium and LegoLand online and in advance to receive discounts and guarantee admission. If you purchase a combo ticket you will get the greatest savings. If you don’t have time to visit both attractions in the same day, don’t worry, the a combo pass is valid for 7 days. Children under 2 are free.

For tiny guests there are small water slides, and a zero depth entry pool with a tot playground.
